This week our course lesson focused on how organizational culture impacts the performance of the organization.

Defining and developing a well-formulated organizational culture is necessary for success. Organizations preform best when there is a clearly defined culture that all employees, and stakeholders, can understand and contribute to. The best way to shape the organizations culture is determine what the organizations values, missions, goals, and overall traits will be. This will set the platform where the organization will grow from.

Some things to consider when developing the organizational culture is what type of culture would be best for your company. Some organizational culture types, like innovative and competitive, have been found to fair better in hostile market changes compared to others. Knowing which type of culture you want to develop will allow for your organization to proactively prepare for changes as well.

Essentially it comes down to this, if you want your organization to have the best chance of succeeding you need to take time to cultivate the organizational culture that will best fit your business. After you figure that out, develop the best way to communicate your culture to your employees and other stakeholders. The more aware they are of the expectations, the easier it will be to grow a strong culture.
